May. 23rd, 2002 02:43 amAfter ripping apart my room, i said to meself, why stop there?
Reformatted the computer, finally got a dual boot set up with mandrake 8.2 and xp.
Only problem is that Mandrake don't like me modem. It's an Intel Hardware modem, not a winmodem, but it's just not responding. If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing them. It's on Com3 in windows, where do I find it in linux? I tried everything, nothing worked.
For those of you who know my room, pics should be up at www.cybertrash.net/pics
off to sleep finally.
*edit*
new domain don't like listing index of directories it seems.
Try this link instead.

Date: 2002-05-23 05:49 am (UTC)and to get apache to allow directory listings, make sure you have
Options +Indexes
enabled for the directory in question. another option is to have
AllowOverride Indexes
set on the root web dir, and then adding Options +Indexes to a .htaccess file in any directories for which you wish to turn on indexing.
you also need
LoadModule autoindex_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_autoindex.so
somewhere, but i'm assuming you've got that part taken care of already.

Date: 2002-05-23 08:02 am (UTC)And I'm not hosting from my computer. I'm on a modem at home, would just be silly. ;o)
Problem with the modem, I think, is that it's not responding to it's initialization string that it gets sent. It sends it, then waits for an OK response, and times out. *sigh*
Any more thoughts?

Date: 2002-05-23 08:07 am (UTC)as for the modem. what are you using to test it? check out minicom. point it at the tty and see if you can get any sort of response. if it is indeed a hardware modem then you should be able to send it ATZ (reset) and get back an OK. if that works, then you know the problem is in your scripts as opposed to the modem itself.
i can't help with the scripts. i haven't used a modem with *n[ui]x in 5 or 6 years, and things were done quite a bit differently back in the day :).
