so I got myself a dvd burner with my xmas money.
I'm burnin me a dvd, and it seems to be working. o_O
57% done, then I try it in the dvd player and see if it works.
la!
*edit*
done burning, 12 minutes for a dvd. not bad. now the test...
yay! works!
well, to be more precise, the burn worked. our main dvd player doesn't like it too much. freezes and skips, but my playstation2 plays it fine as a dvd, so the burn worked, which is the important part. :o)

in other materialistic news, I ended up keeping the leather jacket for a number of reasons, not the least of which was to please my mother cause she thinks I look cute in it.
I just gotta beat it in a bunch so that it feels worn, then maybe I won't feel so... stupid in it.

I got me one of those zipzaps last year as a gift and I ran it over some metal shavings in my basement and the little bitch doesn't turn well now. I can race in a straight line though.

+ or - R on the burner?
-R seems to work in most dvd playes that ive found. +R is just cheaper.
The thing that gets me...is the new dual version burners....do you have to choose which format or does it do it in both and how the hell does that work???

Im thinking about getting on eventually. Im sick of having to have 2 discs to get 4 episodes of anime. >_

I have a dual format... it just detects what format the media is and chooses how to right it automatically.

It makes me a better person. As soon as I figure out a good way to convert DivX to DVD, I'll be set. On the other hand, I just got a DivX player for the PS2, so maybe it doesn't matter.

Grab it here while the grabbing's good (I won't have that account for long).

It seems to work OK thus far, but I haven't made many based on what I say next:

Does any rewriteable media work in your PS2? It does not in mine. It will read CD-R, DVD+R, and DVD-R, but I've tried all flavors of rewriteables and it no work.

It's got a readme. :-p

Go into CDGENPS2

Add CDVD.IRX, MPLAYER.ELF, and SYSTEM.CNF to the thing.

Change the LBA of SYSTEM.CNF to 12231

add media

go.

I think it's supposed to work if you swap for a CD with different videos after loading the player, but I never tried it, so don't ask me.

Too bad I can't seem to get the DVD remote to be it's friend, either. Which I find strange, since it works with Gran Turismo, even.

Oh, I guess I should add that "go" means "write ISO, go to Nero, have fun".

Hmmmm.

Well, it definitely worked on mine.

Have you tried any other non-original disks?

Perhaps.

Were you putting the player on a CD or DVD?

I used a CD, don't know if it makes any difference.

What sorta chip you have? Swap needed?

Hmmm.

In that case, I'm out of ideas then. :-/

Yep.

Of course, I found out that the DivX movies I have look pretty crappy on a TV (including the ones compressed to about 10mb/minute).
