So we had a SICK huge thunderstorm last night.
It fried our cable modem.
DOH!
Got to work, discovered that it must have hit one of Comcast's trunks, as at least one other person in Cambridge had a piece of cable equipment fried (her set-top box).
Ah well, get to replace my cable modem.
That means I get to go to microcenter!
mmm... microcenter...

Wow, I think the cable modem is our oldest still-in-use piece of computer equipment.

Date: 2005-08-02 02:00 pm (UTC)But that's part of why I've resigned myself to always renting my modem from the cable company-- I've fried so many of them it's not funny. And when you rent them from Comcast, they usually replace them for free. Though I suppose if they're only $40 these days, it might not be worth worrying about.
mmmmm.... Microcenter. ::drools::
