hmm.
aparently Aldi stores sell honey for like $1 per pound.
That's sick cheap. I definitely have to remember this for future brewing experimentation.

Meg got me a book of herbal beers through the ages, and I'm having trouble deciding what to try brewing first.
Also, it's time to brew another 5gal batch. I'm thinking a wheat beer to have around for the summer.

mmm... beer=tasty
You non-drinkers have no idea what you're missing, especially if you've only ever tried shitty domestic beers and based your judgement on that. it's sad really...
I'll hereby take it upon myself to convert any non beer-drinkers to the wonders of a tasty beverage. any takers?

yeah. Though I've started drinking beer on occassion. I find the darker the beer the more I like it.

Hey, home and microbrews since I became a grad student have converted me to the blessed ancient beverage. I get disappointed when all I can get in a bar is Sam Adams.

mmmm.... wheat beer.

I didn't think I liked beer until I lived in Scotland. Than I discovered the wonder that is 80 Shilling. Yum. Too bad you can't really get it here.

Mostly for me, I just had realise that it was the "hoppy" taste that I didn't like, and that not all beers are hoppy. And that a beer can even be a little sweet, which is what I like best. So I just stay away from the Pale Ales and IPAs, and reach for the Nut Brown Ales and things with "honey" or "cherry" or "Magic Hat #9" in the name.

Well, yeah. Did you expect any different from the title?

Also: we have hops vines. Mt. Hood var, because they seemed most vigorous and easy to grow of the available options. Will let you know how this goes.

I keep on trying to figure out the jargon for what I like in beer. I like Sierra but it's too bitter... and really it's not.. what's the word I want... full-bodied enough? The bitterness seems to be there in place of real flavor. But it's the best of the regular beer-crew that I've found. I remember having a fondness for Killian's Red back in the day, and I like Guiness but something about it doesn't sit well with me.
And yes, guffaw all you want at my prosaic taste in beer, but everybody's gotta start somewhere. :) At this point all I think I know is that stouts are too dark and pilsners are too light.
