Any closet car-guys out there? I'm having trouble recomending anything sporty but with trunk-space for about $10k
He really wants a WRX wagon, but they're too pricy still.

WRX wagons do seem nice... The only problem I have with them is that they have to have Premium. Blargh.

Sporty with trunk space sounds like a hatchback could be an option. When you put the rear seats down it's amazing how much room they have inside. I sould easily put my mountain bike in the back of my Probe.

Tell him to go down south and buy something, our used cars are better.

Northern cars more often have rust.

Many times when classic cars are for sale, they will say things like "AZ car" or "CA car" because then you know it's never even HEARD of road salt.

When I was but a wee one I remember watching the monster truck races one morning, and they had a thing about how northern wrecked cars were faster than southern wrecked cars because they collapsed better.

All the cars that have what he wants are too new and expensive.
WRX, Mazda3 hatchback, etc.
Protege5 would be nice if it had more power, but alas, no.

dude, you're just in Rome and doing what the Romans do. it's natural, a survival instinct (you need to be understood when you communicate, after all). I think there's nothing wrong with that. it doesn't change where you're from (i.e. a sane land where they know the worth of the letter "r")! i had a bit of a british/scottish accent when i was living there (or so people told me when i spoke to them on the phone), but it made me better understood, so what the heck? but i still reserve the right to make fun of you if i catch you doing it! :)

as for cars, i really don't know, but it's too bad Toyota stopped making Paseo's in the early 90's -- i love my hatchback. not a whole heap of power but you can always use a lower gear if you're craving more zoom... :)
