I learned this from my professor today, so it must be true. Apparently, a pregnant pronghorn antelope starts out having twin fetuses, but only one gets born. This is because one of the fetuses grows a temporary spike on its tail, and then uses it to impale its defenseless twin while still in utero. Then the mother reabsorbs the stabbed fetus.
