Well now!
Ok, update on my life.
On Saturday (and sunday morning), I packed in my entire room which hasn't been moved more than a mile in 3 years, and drove it all home. Took 3 carloads. Good thing I live less than an hour away. :o) Also on Saturday I said goodbye to some friends who were seniors at Bryn Mawr College which is sort of a sister school to my Haverford College. (I'm majoring at Bryn Mawr, it's a little complicated to understand if you don't know the system around here. *grin*)
Sunday we moved the girl into an apartment with 2 friends of hers for the summer. That only took 2 carloads, and it was only about 5 minutes away from her dorm, so it was pretty easy. Mostly painless in fact. Then late that night we finished off my room by moving my couch and shelves into her apartment. Of course it started raining right as we started to put the couch on top of my car. We both got a little hurt in the moving process, but nothing too bad. ;o)
Monday I got up at 6:45 to go to my "New Hire Orientation" at Unisys where I am now a part of The Man. 37,000 employees world wide. Guess that's why they're paying me lots of money to play on the internet all day. (more on that later) The New Hire Orientation was just as it sounds: boring corporate BS. Watched a video on ethics telling us not to accept bribes, etc. Come on! We're interns for $DIETY's sake! Whatever. Met a few other interns and promptly forgot their names and anything about them. Got to go home at 11 and start to unpack my life. It spread all over the house pretty fast, bothering my mother immensely. Crashed around midnight because...
Tuesday was my first day actually on the job. Did mostly nothing. Met another intern, his cubicle is next to mine. His name's John, he seems nice enough. We're sort of trying to form a little tag-team to keep eachother informed as to what the hell's going on around here. I though yesterday was boring. I did basically nothing but buy a shitty old laptop on e-bay to work on in the library at school. John said that he hasn't really done anything here yet, and he's been here a week. Maybe they were waiting for both of us to arrive? *shrug* Went home at 4:30, took an hour because of traffic. So I'm now doing 7:30-4 as a work day because it'll avoid the traffic mess. But, it means that i get up at 6 every day now. *sigh* No more DiabloII for awhile. Unpacked the rest of my stuff last night. It's amazing how much shit I can accumulate over a short 3 years. I have 3 computers up and running in the spare room at home now. My dad has 2 more, one's an NT server, so I'm going to network 'em all together so we can play LAN games. :o) Well, except the ancient Mac. It's useless. Planning on setting up a Linux server on my second PC. It's an old 133, so it's not much use. But it's good to learn Linux on. I did it last summer, and I want more!
Finished unpacking around 11, messed around on the internet until I decided to crash at 11:30 (due to 6AM wakeup and all). The girl finally called at 11:45, which was wonderful because I missed her muchly! Talked for about 20 minutes until I pleaded sleepiness and less than 6 hours of sleep sucks.
crashed fast.
Woke up and drove to work, messed around on the web, started this update.
*whew*
Now you're up to date on my last 4-5 days. congrats!
*grin*

Date: 2001-05-23 03:04 pm (UTC)Nothing.
Well, that's not totally true. I bought a $50 laptop on e-bay yesterday. *grin*
Today I actually had some work to do. I went through old Lotus Notes databases to determine which were no longer in use and could be trashed, because the server was out of free HD space.
Woot.
And the point of the whore-like comment was that I am feeling whore-like, selling my soul to a corporation for cash. Not that Unisys is whore-like. :o)
And damnit! Don't tell me you had more to say and then not say it! That sucks! Now i want to know, and I may just have to drive to the middle of nowhere and beat you up for it!
grr...
;o)

Next week I'll need to find a new game at this rate. But tomorrow I'm setting up a lab. Oh joy. Blargh.
