Sep. 28th, 2003 03:55 pmnew monitor home and jacked in.
one pixel is dead in green, so it appears red when it's supposed to be white.
no big deal, it's relatively out of the way, and with a 19" monitor worth of pixels, it's really unnoticible.
time to try a game.
ok, so it sucks for gaming.
good though, I won't be so tempted to play. :o)

Date: 2003-09-28 02:59 pm (UTC)honestly after a half hour of gaming (purely for testing purposes I assure you) it's really not that bad.
It's a tad more laggy than a crt, but totally useable.
thanks for the offer though. I'm just too happy having a big, bright monitor AND desk space.
It's wonderful.
:o)

Date: 2003-09-29 07:09 am (UTC)They look all neat and shiny at first, but thewn I discover that they aren't nearly so USABLE as the CRTs.
I cheated and bought a CRT with an ultrabright setting, which is painful to the eyes when reading text, but great for movies/games.
And hey.... if you're getting extra desk space, doesn't that mean you're getting a 19" monitor and moving it to the back of the desk so that it looks smaller than your 17"? 0:-)
I can't help but notice that everyone at work does that, then say that the monitors should be bigger.

Date: 2003-09-29 04:52 pm (UTC)and i have NO objections whatsoever to the brightness of this thing. I had to turn it down, and that's saying a lot for an LCD.
