Perseid meteor showers peak tonight, go outside and stare at the sky!

We went out to Lincoln last night to lie in a field a little away from the city. It was really nice, but there was a whispy cloud-cover that reflected a lot of the city light around and kept the sky lighter than might have been ideal. Still we saw one really big, bright one, and, hey, lying around in the tall grass at night! :)

Tried to...damned cloud cover is too thorough. Friend who was sponsoring a trip out to an island to watch had to cancel.

The NPR weather folks were saying as late as 6pm that "the clouds should clear up shortly for good viewing tonight."
fail. *sigh*
