Yay! Finally took the T to work today! (About 45 mins from Davis to work, as expected.)

Boo! Discovered I only have $0.40 left on my card AFTER I got on the T.
And there are no refiller stations out here on the silverline.

edit: and while mbta.com will finally let you add value online, it doesn't take effect until after 5:00am the following day. WEAKSAUCE.

You can add value to the card on the silverline itself (the fare readers also work as refiller stations).

Crazy. Probably have to hold up the whole commuter line to do it though, no?

yeah, i was surprised the first time it happened to me too. there's a big green button you have to push but i forget what the actual method is. something like button - insert money - swipe - swipe. the driver can tell you, although yeah it will hold things up a little.

I've actually had green line drivers tell me I could do that on the train too. I've always been too dubious to try.

And yes, you can also do it on green line trains, and, I believe, busses - which will make it everywhere with an in-vehicle card reader.

When I worked at Blue State Digital I used to take the Silver line to Courthouse, and IIRC there were charliecard refilling machines there.
