Interview thing that's been going around.
You know the drill, if you want to be interviewed, leave a comment and I'll ask you 5 questions which you post in your journal, blah blah.

From [livejournal.com profile] prosicated:
1. If you would be able to achieve success/your wildest dreams with one of of your hobbies/interests (music-making, computer-building, photography, glass-blowing, metal-smithing, wood-carving, beer-brewing, frisbee, etc.), but could only have that *one* hobby/activity for the rest of your life, which would you pick?
It is antithetical to the ry to have only one hobby.
...
this hurts to even think about.
Complete success and wildest dreams, let me at least narrow it down then.
Woodworking would be awesome. I'd love to be able to make a living through custom carpentry, building instruments, etc.
Photography, ditto. being a pro photographer would rock.
Musician would be nice, but being on the road a lot would be tough.
soooooo...
I think i'd have to go with woodworking. I'd absolutely love to make that happen for a living.

2. What would you have done with a year off between high school and college?
A good question.
For those of you just joining in, I went straight from high school to college, and nearly failed out of college. I've always held that I needed a year off to reset my brain into a college-ready state, and my mom talked me out of it.
If I had taken a year off, I don't think I would have done much of anything. Worked odd jobs, lived at home, maybe traveled a little bit. I just needed some time away from schooling, and I didn't get it. It would have been boring and I probably would have hated it, but that's the point. As it was, I wasn't ready to go to college when I did, and rushing it made things worse.

3. How would you live if you lived alone? What would you eat? What hours would you keep? What would your dwelling look like?
What would I eat? Man, I'd cook pork chops every night of the week. ^_^
Ok, let me break it down:
Food:
Lots of grilling, both meat and veggies. I'd have a large stock of Udon noodles and bonito flakes, and make myself asian soups quite frequently. Also a lot more stir-fry. (I like asian foods. heh.)
Hours:
I'd probably find a good paying job working an evening shift at a Network Operations Center or something. The pay is more, and the hours are ry-like. So I'd get home, play video games till the sun came up, and crash. wake up in the afternoon and go to work.
Dwelling:
That would depend on where I lived. Ideally a small rural house, or perhaps in a west-philly-ish neighborhood somewhere, with a garage/workshop. Oh yes, there would be a workshop. Although it could be in a basement instead. interior decor of living space would either be minimalist, or crammed with soo much random stuff that you wouldn't know where to sit. I honestly don't know which. Living room would probably be minimalist, with a computer room crammed full of ry-cruft.
I could ramble on here forever, but I won't.
And a decent sized flat yard would be a major bonus.

4. What inanimate object would you most like to be able to converse with? About what would you converse?
Rocks.
they have such amazing attention-spans that there's obviously something on their minds. plus they know the history of the world, and watch humans flit by constantly.
I'd start by asking them their names, then move on to talking about the history of the world, where it's been, where it's going. Where that particular rock's been and what it's seen. etc.

5. If you could pick one dead relative to hang out with for a day, and ask anything, whom would you pick, and what would you ask?
Tough one.
I'm not much of a talker.
Probably my paternal grandfather, and ask him about his life. I know so little about him, yet he seems to have lead a very full life. He was also not much of a talker in life, so unlike my other grandfather I never heard lots of random stories.
Wish I'd known him better.
