Jan. 16th, 2004 02:52 pmbored bored bored. blah blah blah.
Dull day at work.
Went out to lovely dinner last night with jimmy_obadger and grayhoundliz, was mmmmmm tasty. we all plopped on the kitchen floor, where 1/2 of us fell asleep, and the awake half had to throw the sleeping half out into the snow. hehe!
Slept kind of fitfully, my back's pissy at me today. Not too bad, just letting me know that it's not happy with me. silly back. I OWNZOR YOU!!! you will obey me.
The New York Times ran an article today supporting the possiblity of a One-Way trip to Mars. Would be economically feasible, the people would of course be volunteers, and the theory would be to develop a colony on Mars, small at first but with shipments of stuff and people to augment the base whenever possible. Return to earth would not be guaranteed, nor would survival for more than a short period of time, but if everything went right you might live a decently long life, to die of cancer from the increased radiation because of Mars' thin atmosphere.
My question:
Assuming you were qualified and given the opportunity, would you volunteer?
If not, what would it take for you to volunteer?
Me personally, I almost definitely would if I weren't so very in love with someone here.
