fuck this administration.
Brazil has rejected Bush's AIDS-relief money because it came with strings attached: a requirement to condemn prostitution, rather than working with sex-workers to promote safe sex. The Bush AIDS money comes with requirements to block abortion, birth control and sex-ed in favor of abstinence programs.

fuckity fuck them.
really muchly.

and good for Brazil, not letting money sway their stance on some very important issues.

So youre saying we should do the right thing without trying to force our beliefs (and by "our" i mean an undetermined percentage of people around the country hovering around half, but of which the president is one) down the throats of others. interesting.

Sigh. perhaps one day we'll live in a more altrusitic world.

I do wonder where the money will go to know though.

I'm not sure I get what you're saying here... is it:

a) The US is correct to force its views down the throats of less fortunate nations, even if it means risking not being able to combat a deadly worldwide epidemic; or

b) Since it's "a given" that the US will be engaging in this behavior, we may as well just live with it and stop questioning policies which perhaps just over half of the country supports?

Its neither. Im being sarcastic for the most. I believe if youre going to aid, then you should just do it, and if youre not then just shut up about it and not do it.

basically Im agreeing with [livejournal.com profile] inahandbasket, though perhaps i didn't make that clear. Sorry.

Not necessary. I missed the tone, so any fault is mine. I've just gotten used to devil's advocate assertions I guess... ^_^
