I've always just gone straight to airlock, never had a problem. This sucker has a ridiculous amount of fermentables in it though, so I'm not surprised it blew the airlock off. ^_^ 6lbs of dark DME, 1cup Molasses/honey. Fermentation was relatively slow yesterday, compared to the red beer we just did. apparently it was just a slow starter though.
