Biked to work!
~7.9 miles, ~40 minutes. Not too shabby! I took it easy as it was the first trip for this commute, and that bike has only had a 2mi shakedown ride since I rebuilt it and I wasn't confident in my handiwork.
Route taken, the astute Bostonians among you will notice the very stupid turn after crossing the longfellow. I shall never again ask a bike courier for recommended directions on the fly without being very specific as to WHICH waterfront industrial park I was headed towards. I'll take some blame for that one.

Nice ride! Also, your work is right next to my absolute favorite hardware store in the city.

Yay! That route actually doesn't look so unreasonable to me -- the one-way streets in downtown Boston make biking around there pretty much a nightmare in any direction.

You and everyone else decided to ride today, it was impressive to see all the bikes out!

When I was riding in, I took it as an excuse to head through Harvard and ride in along the river. It added time, but it made for a much nicer ride overall.

It was good for scenery and for avoiding traffic snarls. I got pretty adept at riding in city traffic, but I still hated going through places like Leverett Circle. Place was a nightmare on the best of mornings.

What time were you riding? Our paths may have crossed (I was heading up Holland and then Broadway from Davis, starting just after 8am).

Ah, then you probably got to Davis a little before I did. Unless you happened to see a guy going up Holland St in a red jersey with black polka dots.

Ooh, I'm feeling much better about taking 60 minutes for my 9-10 mile ride home from work now. though I'm not sure that I can still do that, now that I haven't done any exercise since October. But I can't wait to try it again once I'm done with school for the semester. Woo!

(ok, now I'm *really* going to go make lasagna instead of just talking about it, like I have for the past 15 minutes.)

My ride home just about killed me...I'm thinking there is just too much climbing for me to handle just now. Hopefully I can rest up this weekend and come back stronger next week. At the two traffic lights I have on the last 2 miles home, my arms and hands were shaking and I was about to collapse. Took me 34 minutes to get there, 38 home--there's a lot more climbing on the way home. I think I may have to find another route for fun rides.

On the bright side, this should help get me in shape faster (assuming I can actually do the ride every day) and someone who reads my bike blog wants to start doing rides. So that could be motivation.
